Teen Prodigy Declan McKenna Has Made You A Playlist Of His Favourite Songs

The talented teen has great taste in tunes

We’ve already told you about Declan McKenna‘s new single. It’s called Paracetamol, and it’s an alt-indie anthem with killer production and an extremely important video. It sounds quite a lot like this:

That really is a great song, isn’t it

We really, really like what we’ve heard from Declan McKenna, so we thought we’d ask him to dig deep into his iPod and put together a little playlist of a few of his favourite songs.

You can find the full playlist at the bottom of the page, but here’s Declan telling you a little bit about some of the songs he’s picked out:

Clipping – Dominoes

‘I rarely use the term ‘underrated’ to describe bands, but Clipping time and time again fuck me up with bangers that genuinely make me ask how the hell nobody knows who they are. Dominoes is one of many tracks by them that I love passionately. tuneage m8.’

The Beatles – Rocky Raccoon

‘This is one of my favourites from the White Album. One of the things I love about The Beatles is that they had the ability to make amazing music that’s also quite childlike and playful, and that really comes through in this. I love it.’

David Bowie – Valentine’s Day

‘I only really got into this tune after I found out about his death. It just makes you realise how fantastic he was right up to the end.’

Not only is that a great playlist, but it would also serve as the perfect soundtrack for you to buy tickets for Declan‘s upcoming UK live shows: he’s playing a few gigs around the UK over the next few months, and then a heap of festival dates in the summer, and we’d majorly recommend checking him out.

Declan McKenna plays Plymouth’s The Underground on May 27th, with Tiny Folds as support. Get tickets here.
