The Sheffield four-piece are ready for the big leagues
Have you heard of The Sherlocks? You probably know their music: they’ve just finished supporting indie-rock giants The Libertines on their mammoth UK arena tour, and their new single Last Night has got everyone from Greg James to Huw Stephens jumping out of their seats with excitement. They’ve just started their biggest-ever UK tour, and we think that you all need to head down to a show. ‘BUT WHY!?’, we hear you cry? Let us explain, dear reader…
1. They’re an insanely tight live band
We saw them support The Libertines at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena, and we were absolutely blown away by their set. Upbeat, uptempo, and ridiculously tight, the band’s combination of ramshackle guitars and hands-in-the-air choruses is perfectly suited to the live arena, and we’re sure that they’ll sound even better in a small venue. 2. They’ll play their amazing new single
It’s called Last Night, and we can’t get enough of it. It was the highlight of their set throughout their Libertines support tour, and we’re sure that you’ll be hearing it everywhere in the next few months. 3. You can’t beat a bit of brotherly rivalry
Noel and Liam. Ray and Dave. Angus and Malcolm. There’s nothing quite like a bit of friendly rivalry to add a little venom to a band’s sound, and The Sherlocks’ two-sets-of-brothers dynamic ensures that there’s always more than enough bite to match the bark of their music:
4. They’re more than just a bog-standard indie-rock band
There’s more to The Sherlocks than fast guitars and big choruses. They’ve also got a knack for writing mournful acoustic ballads, and we’re sure that they’ll be playing a couple of these on their tour. This one’s called The Games You Play:
5. They were actually insanely good when they supported The Libertines
We really can’t overstate this. From the minute they stepped on the stage, the band were a bonafide explosion of energy, charisma, and catchy indie-rock tunes, and we couldn’t take our eyes off them. The crowd might have been there to see The Libertines, but it’s safe to say that they won over a fair few new fans on each and every night of the tour. Make sure you head down to one of their shows – they won’t be playing venues this small for long…
